Skin Upload Guideline

Topic Title: Skin - [Skin Name] - [QVGA/VGA]

Topic Body: Screenshots (for two layouts), description, and upload link (please use zip). If it's derived from some other skin, please state the origin. You would better use the forum upload instead of the external link. Before you upload, please test your skin on your own phone first!

Zip guideline: Please do NOT include "Resources" as the root folder in your zip. Your zip file should directly include the following files:

Skin Installation Guideline

If you want to try any of the skins uploaded by other people, please note that usually an uploaded skin is in a zip file. So please follow the steps:

1. Unzip the skin zip file to somewhere on your PC.

2. Copy the unzipped files (should look like the list above) to your device's TouchPal installation folder "Program Files\TouchPal\Resources\" and overwrites the original files. (Before you copy, it's recommended you backup your "TouchPal\Resources\" subfolder!)

3. Reboot your device.

Skin Design Manual

1. Resolution: Skins can be for two different resolutions: QVGA (240 x 320), VGA (480 x 640). The official skins that we released are for both resolutions. (That's why they are installable CAB packages.) However, you can design a skin only for one of the resolutions. That's fine. But please state your resolution so that other users won't make a mistake.

Basically, VGA skin is identical to QVGA's, except that VGA is twice as big as QVGA (width x 2, height x 2).

2. Format: You should use PNG format for all the skin pictures. Please keep the file size as small as possible. You should use exactly the same pixel size of the original skin.

3. File description: The skin contains the following files:

Folders:

[large], [normal], [small], [xsmall]. These are for pictures in different sizes (TouchPal Professional can be resized)

In each subfolder, there are:

background.png - the background for the Full Qwerty layout (single-key)

bakground2.png - the background for the T+ layout (dual-key) and 9-key PhonePad layout.

effect.png - the highlight background for key press in single-key

effect2.png - the highlight background for key press in dual-key

space.png - the background for SPACE key

In root folder, there are:

(* - TouchPal is rendering the elements in the file by TransparentBlt, which means you need to be careful about the background color for the sake of anti-alias effect.)

bk_bk.png - background for BACKSPACE key

elements.png * - foreground text for SPACE and BACKSPACE

emotional.png * - Emoticons

HelpIcon.png - Help icon in the Option tab

elements.png * - foreground text for SPACE and BACKSPACE

highlight.png *- highlighted foreground main text (you shouldn't change the order of the letters)

highlight2.png * - highlighted foreground symbol text. It will show up on keypad layout, left-side.

indics.png - the first pixel on the upper-left corner is the background color of the Option tab.

style1.png * - foreground main text (you shouldn't change the order of the letters)

style2.png * - foreground symbol text

sym_special.png * - special symbols

top_highlight.png - background of the active (current selected) tab

top_normal.png - background of the inactive tab

topelem.png * - foreground text of the inactive tab

toph.png * - foreground text of the active (current selected) tab

PageTurnArrows.png * – the left/right arrows

more.png – the “More” button shows up on top of BACKSPACE button to get more word candidates.

Modi.png – the undo button (It is only needed in Chinese PinYin edition***).

About Antialias (Important)

In TouchPal v3.5, we adopt anti-alias to provide better UI experience. That means all the following element files should use the same background color of your keyboard skin:
